Madison Street Bakehouse will add a small bite of bliss to your day.

A toast to spring

As Russian writer Leo Tolstoy once said, "Spring is the time of plans and projects"...and Whiskey.

It's all happening, the weather is warming up and the flowers are in boom. I am singing every disney princess song, that I can remember the lyrics to. Even the ones I can not remember the lyrics to. Everything feels so light and fresh.

So it may seem like its time to shelve the whiskey and the ryes. These spirits that compliment fall and winter so well. psst... its not.  I am going to leave you with a recipes to try for a brightened take on a whiskey classic.

JoJo's Whiskey Smash

7-8 washed mint leaves
half of one washed lemon, cut into four pieces
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 ounces whiskey
1 cup crushed ice

Place the mint, lemon, and sugar in a cocktail shaker.

Muddle together until the sugar has dissolved and the lemon has released all it's juice.

Add the whiskey, cover, and shake for 30 seconds.

Transfer mixture to an Old Fashioned glass.

Top with crushed ice and garnish with a sprig of mint.

So this recipe is my good friend Jordan's. A is a bourbon girl , her go to is Buffalo Trace. I am a rye girl, my go to is Old Overholt.

I use my honey comb to muddle

I often use jars to shake my cocktails.

I crushed my own ice using the blunt end of my chefs knife.

So please use whatever bourbon or rye that you like. No crushed ice , not a big deal use whatever ice you have.

Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to follow your bliss. Oh yeah, Bottoms Up!
